How to use the spacebar counter
- Choose 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds, or No timer to just count.
- Press the spacebar as fast as you can. The timer starts with your first press.
- When time is up you'll see your total and presses per second. Your best score is saved in your browser.
Holding the spacebar down doesn't count. Only separate presses do, so the score is fair.
Why test your spacebar?
The spacebar is the most-used key on any keyboard and often the first to wear out. If presses are missed at the edges of the bar, the stabilisers may be loose or dirty. Gamers also use spacebar speed tests to practise jumping and rapid key presses.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good spacebar score?
Around 6–8 presses per second is typical. Fast players reach 10–12 per second in a 10-second test.
Why does my spacebar sometimes not register?
Spacebars have metal stabilisers that can come loose or collect dirt. Press near both ends of the bar. If one side misses, the stabiliser needs cleaning or re-seating.
Does holding Space count?
No. Only separate presses are counted; holding the key down is ignored.
